I’m in over my *seo* head!

hey guys, I’ve been reading through all the posts in here, seems like they are all asking the same question… how do I improve my SE rankings???

I’m not very keen on all this, I design websites for a living, and I’ve never been asked to do this, but I picked up a new client from a buddy, he designed the site (which I’m not fond of at all!) but my first task is to try and tackle seo for the site. I’m working on doing all the things you guys have specified for seo, however, we’re not seeing results, and we all know the client just wants results, not excuses that you’ve been trying.

So I was hoping that some of you more experienced designers might take a look at the site and give me some constructive feedback??

I’ve been submitting the site to all of the high pr directories I can find, also been playing with the h and strong tags, linking to different pages throughout the site in the body text, sitemaps, everything google offers for free…
would any of you mind taking a look through the site and giving me some help? I’ll tell you this, they do NOT teach this stuff in college, at least the one I went to, and it seems like this is an exercise in patience, but my client wants to see… and I want to show some positive results…

the site is dososostimberworks.com
any and ALL help is very much appreciated ?

EDIT: I wanted to mention, and forgot, he wants his site to rank well with these search terms:
Timber Framing California
California’s Choice for Cutting Edge Timber Frames and Timber Frame Design

and I really do not want to use any black hat methods, seems scummy to do for a legit business/website

@TecBratOct 02.2007 — I think you will find a little here and a little there, but for the most part, really successful SEO people are not going to share. Do you think Pepsi is going to give Coke the recipe to Mt. Dew? Is Coke going to give it's recipe to RC? No way.

You'll have to do it the old fashioned way, Reverse Engineering.

You will need to walk a grey line between white hat (accessability) and black hat spamming.

@mattEauthorOct 02.2007 — would it help at all if I said I have no interest in getting into this game full time? ?

I'm an artist at heart, I realize the value this has for a website owner, but this kind of stuff holds no interest for me... ask me to code some html/css and I'm all over it, this stuff though
