counting elements in select box

Hello all,

I have a regular html select box:

[CODE]
<select name=”key” id=”key”>
<option value=”1″>One</option>
<option value=”2″>Two</option>
<option value=”3″>Three</option>
[/CODE]

I want that when I submit the form to count in javascript the elements in the select box. How can I do so?
