Basic Java Script Help For New Guy.

Hello
I am presently building a new website, and I was wonder if there is a way I can insert a Javascript command in image map link. Specifically I want to force close a window, and maybe open a window to a specified size.

I sure this is pretty basic stuff, but I know nothing of Javascript which is why I posted here.

Can someone help me? Or maybe steer me in the right direction.
