Help with forms

Hello, I do hope I can find some help here,
I am trying to create a form for a role playing charecter creation sheet.
For example the player starts off with a set amount of points and can spend them on ability’s spells weapons etc. I hope to do this with a form

I just need to be pointed in the right direction as to be honest I dont even know where to start

@flannSep 09.2007 — do you have a database backend to store all this info? I would start by what are they able to purchase? Maybe list all available products and then a text box with there current amount.

I have an very rough example of what I am trying to do here its just in a simple html form set-up nothing fancy http://www.dragonlorelarp.co.uk/test/

The player would start with a set amount of charecter points and each skill or magic spell would cost a set amount of char points

I was hoping to be able to show them how many points they had left to spend and when they used up the points they could not add any more skills etc.

I don't mind learning how to do it but tbh I need a nudge in the correct direction ?

@Declan1991Sep 09.2007 — Do you need to store the data for the future, or when the user is finished, is that it? To alter the page without going to the server, you'll need to use Javascript.

@flannSep 10.2007 — Well to store the data you're going to need to set up a database. I would get rid of the checkboxes where you have a point system too. If the user has zero points selected here, than they have not selected it, making the checkbox useless.
