innerHtml doesn’t retrive the formatting from div

Hi,
i have used document.execCommand(…) to hightlight some text inside the division tag.
If I try to retireve that inner html using txtResponse.innerHtml using ASP.net/C#, where txtResponse is hte name of my Div.
I can only get the data or text.. but i cannot get the html tags with it.. I can only get hte text using document.getElementById(..).innerHTML in javascirpt. but then i dont know hwo to pass this data to the server. Please help me out. Thanks.
