How to delete "empty" folder on server

I am pulling my hair out trying to get something to work to make a password restricted page. Gave up trying to make .htpasswd workon my own. Downloaded dirpass.cgi and finally got it setup and working. I thought. It seems it is working but nope, I can still hit the page like I always did. It doesn’t ask for a password.

So, I am surmising maybe there is some kind of comflict from my prior attempts to .htpasswd on my own. In instructions, it had me ftp a file and then rename it .htpasswd and also another one called .htaccess. But when I did that, they did FTP but then they disappeared from the screen in the directory on my server. Like they became invisible or something. Anyway, I was wanting to just delete the /hidden directory but it won’t let me. It says it is not empty. But I can’t delete .htpasswd or the other one because I can’t see them. If they are there.

How can I delete the /hidden folder?

@ray326Aug 20.2007 — Putting a period as the first letter of a file name in Unix is the way to make the file hidden. If your FTP client won't show hidden files then you can still delete them if you use their full name.

@Duke_WillauthorAug 20.2007 — Ok but how can I delete them if I can't see them? Both FTP programs I use, you click on a file to do something to it. I can't see anything and even if I click on the spot where the file SHOULD be, it won't highlight that row like I would think it would. I guess if it's hidden, it's completely hidden. Anyway, I don't know how to do what you say if I can't see it.
