Product Tour Development

A question posed to some of the more experienced designers/scripters: I’m the web designer for a healthcare software company. They’d like me to revise their product tours, complete with screenshots. Currently, they have them set to one screenshot, with description and text, to a page. Click “next” and it takes the user to the next page. The problem with that is the roughly 50 different HTML pages for one product tour – not very efficient.

One of my options is Flash, which I tried out to address the product tour problem. I’m not a big fan of Flash, however. I’d like to make good use of the fact that our server environment is JSP.

So, what’s really the best way to address product tours with Javascripting, in your opinion?

@ashley_harrisauthorAug 17.2007 — That's what I thought - I've seen what AJAX can do, I've just never actually used it myself. I popped on over to w3schools when I started this quest for a good solution, but apart from simple drop-down menus, show-hide layer commands, pop-ups and close-window controls, I'm certainly the novice when it comes to Javascripting.

@Angry_Black_ManAug 17.2007 — no problem. if you know how to use getElementById and innerHTML, you will have no problems making what you want work.
