image button doesnt work

hello,

I have been provided a CSS file which places minus icon (from a icon file with lot of symbols on it) on a form. like

[CODE]<div class=”icon minus”>
</div>[/CODE]

I dont have much experience with CSS. When i wrote the above two lines in my HTML form it displays the minus symbol at apprprpriate position.

Now i want to make this minus image/symbol as button like

[CODE]<input type=”image”>[/CODE]

if i place this image tag without src within the above div block, it shows text over the minus button “submit query” and if passed alt=”” to hide the “submit query” then button doesnt perform any action(only image).

So plz tell me how can i make this minus symbol placed by DIV block as a button?
