Best positioning attributes

Hey all,

I have a page with 2 columns. In the past i have used absolute values to position div boxes in order to organise my page. Is this a bad idea? Is it better to use relative positioning?

I would like to hear different opinions.

Here is a link to an image of the site….just so you have an idea of the layout. Im trying to work out the best way in which to position div boxes.

Thanks.

@ray326Jul 31.2007 — I'd start with sizing and floats, no positioning at all.

padding

width

float

clear

overflow

are all the properties you need to set out a web page unless you want elements to overlap or move or be positioned relative to the bottom of the window. Only then do you need anything other than the default positioning of static.
