how can i assign this in javascript

var s=”shanto”;

s[0] = ‘a’
s[2] = ‘s’

Do you want to change the characters at those indices ?

[FONT="Courier New"]--> "ahsnto"[/FONT]

You could use regular expressions, but the most understandable way is to split into an array.

[code=php]str = "shanto";

str = str.split('');
str[0] = "a";
str[2] = "s"
str = str.join('');

alert(str)[/code]
