IE6 createElement input retrieve getElementsByName

Hi all,

I have an external JS script that I’m running in my site and it sets a ticket using createElement.

this.CreateHiddenTicketField = function ()
{
this.hiddenTicketField = document.createElement(“input”);
this.hiddenTicketField.type=”hidden”;
this.hiddenTicketField.name=”ticket”;
return this.hiddenTicketField;
}

Now when I need to retrieve this (after it’s set), I use:

var ticket = document.getElementsByName(“ticket”)[0].value;
alert(ticket);

Which works fine in Safari, Firefox (Win, Mac) but I can’t get IE6 to pick it up.

Has anyone come across a similar situation before? I need to mention that I can’t edit the external JS.

Thanks!
Wilson

@SparoHawkJul 14.2007 — document.getElementsByName does not work properly in Internet Explorer.

Set an ID to the input and use document.getElementById.

Or, you can do: document.formName.inputName to access it.
