character troubles…

Hi,

i have a form on one page that is sent to an other for a search of mysql. When a user enter mum’s car, I have a problem. I cannot get rid of the ‘ character. It is transformed in ‘ and the search performed is mum’s car that returns nothing ! How could I get rid of the ‘ cahracters? I tried to replace but it did not work, I tried to decode htmlentities and nothing… help please !

@temp_user123Jul 09.2007 — What is probably happening is that magic_quotes is turned on and you are getting slashes in what comes from the client. Then, you are adding slashes again in your query string. So...

Use [B]stripslashes[/B] on what comes from the client. Then use [B]addslashes[/B] on what goes into your query string.
