Weird linking bug

I posted here a little while back and got some good help. I am once again having difficulty with a bug.

Website: www.principlewebdesign.com
CSS: www.preinciplewebdesign.com/mainstyle.css

Bug- Links are doing weird things. When i link to a page that is also linked to in the navigation i get the navigation background instead of the default link characteristics. Everything i know about selector precedence and such leads me to believe it should be working.

Thanks for your help!

Edit: Bug only appears to happen after you click on the link – test it on the questionnaire link in the first paragraph of the main content (bottom of paragraph)

@CentauriJun 20.2007 — When combining two items with a comma in the css, make sure to use the complete identifier for each item. ie.
#navborder a:link, a:visited{
should be
#navborder a:link, #navborder a:visited{
@bryceray1121authorJun 20.2007 — Alright, i have another question that has plagued me for ages.

I have two columns. I have one set to expand as needed to fit content. How do i get the other column to expand at an equal rate so everything equals out. Example of my problem-

Also, i am looking for a good tutorial on php if you can help me. I would like to be able to have this form submitted in a post in one of my forums. i know this is do-able but not sure how. Thanks!

@tcaJun 20.2007 — For PHP: http://www.killerphp.com/ Best beginner tutorial I know of. Has articles and videos.

The only way I know to make the "equal columns" is with Javascript: http://tinyurl.com/yw4gh4

@bryceray1121authorJun 20.2007 — Oh man, i can tell right now using javascript is gonna be a major pain ?

@bryceray1121authorJun 20.2007 — I am attempting to do it without javascript.

I have created a background image in the maincontent area which extends into the column. This solves the column height problem. Any suggestions on getting my text to stay in one spot? Right now i have it set at a margin from the top, which changes everytime the maincontent changes height moving my text up and down.

@CentauriJun 21.2007 — As the #rightcolumn div comes after #maincontent in the html, it will be naturally positioned at the end of #maincontent, hence the need for the negative top margin to "pull" #rightcolumn back up. There are two ways around this - one would be to put #rightcolumn before #maincontent in the html, or you could float the #maincontent div left (and set clear:both in #footer css). Both of these methods would then allow a normal top margin to be used.
