IMAP Connection problem

Hi ,

I am new to web programming…I am creating a web based IMAP email client using PHP.In that i need feature to be coded.When ever a user clicks on a mail the client has to send a acknowledge to the server as some thing like “Read Done”. Is ther any options or atributes i have to set.. Please comment this …Even it is totally a different logic… Even a small info is also welcomed..
