Ensure that any META data that you supply for the search engines is relating to your site, avoid common terms that are often confused or can turn up in unexpected places.

Having the right amount of META is important, too many terms and your site could be ear marked as a spam site, too few and you may not get listed as you expect.

I played around with a friends websites meta data, I NEVER PAID ANYTHING TO ANYONE.... I used my brain and presto... http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?ei=UTF-8&fr=slv1-bt&p=spowage should have atleast 2 enteries within the top 6 returns and atleast one being No.1 posistion. This site before I got my grubbies on it was listed somewhere past the 1000 return mark.

Many sites offer up translation, "G" offers a service which after trying it out was hit and miss and especially on Flash sites, it falls flat on its face.

I have also read several articles that fly in the face of fact, many years ago it would have been true but hosts and search engines have got their acts together and META is important, is referenced unlike some articles insist conturary to fact and these site also point you to various PAID search engines, so DONT BE FOOLED as you will be parting with good money for nothing.

Paying for traffic to your site, Hmmm for years I have been scratching my head on why people do this... the driven traffic is often people like me who operate popup blockers and other software to stop this antisocial method of marketing.

In reality, if you have a product or service of worth, people WILL find you out, paying out to harass millions of potential customers is only going to make people remeber your popup as an annoyance.

Theirs far better ways of investing your money, advertising in your "Local" or "Regional" papers, Local Radio & TV advertising is now cheaper than ever, a typical 30 second advert on TV is about £1k a second, Radio about £100 a second. Newspaper adverts in a Regional papers also are a better avenue to reach more people than an internet advert. An advert on the back of a Bus pointed out that 69% of people DONT HAVE INTERNET, those that do have internet, the kids are the main users!

Seriously consider ALL avenues of advertising, each one has its pros and cons but of them all, hard print ones are the best because you dont need a computer to see it and because its in hard print, people are more reassured of your commitment as a buisness.

Domain names, some people go for mispellings of the domain name, some go for .tld's and very few do both as it can be expensive if you buy many domain names, you need to work out is it worth the investment.
