user login with password?

Hello everyone first time poster here.

I have been out of web design for a little while now but I’m getting back into it. I have a new client that wants a user login with a pass and an admin login with a pass. So that the admin for the company can post notes and memos for there employees and then the employees can then login and see them.

What would be the easiest way to do this? It looks like it would be an asp app or a php app. I had designed a few sites using php but it was kind of a pain to work with. I’m guessing it all might be easer now. But if there were some script or something so I could load it on there websites easer that would be great. Thanks in advance for any help. Look forward to posting and help when I can.

@saeApr 07.2007 — why not just install a blog software?

Other option is to install a guest book and .htaccess the page where you would add new content

@DatakenauthorApr 07.2007 — Im not sure about the blog software or how it works. I will check it out.

I dont think the guest book will work. It needs to be secure. So that an admin or superviser will login with a user and pass and post msg for an employee. and the employee will login and check for msg. So its like a secure area that they can all login and post stuff. My kids school has this kind of thing. The teachers have admin rights and they setup there studunts with a user and pass and there own little area and they can go in there and post work that they have done or pictures. I guess a forum would almost work maybe.

@ray326Apr 07.2007 — That's standard Content Management System (CMS) stuff. Check out all the ones at http://opensourcecms.com for one that closest fits your needs.

@DatakenauthorApr 07.2007 — Ya thats what I was thinking. I have used php-nuke before and its just full of that kind of stuff. I was hoping to stay away from setting up a mysql database and all that but looks like thats what has to be done. Thanks for that link its full of apps.
