Any ideas on this…?

Hey guys!

I haven’t looked into this problem yet, as I haven’t started the project, but just thought I’d see if anyone can throw me any thoughts.

As part of a shopping cart I need to create an application that can be used to design logos for teeshirts, mouse mats and mugs.

I will pre-build a load of shapes and images, and have them in a frame on a page where the user can drag them out and onto the page then using CSS can drag and drop them anywhere to form all kinds of compound shapes.

The issue I can I can see arising is: how do I get the image that is on-screen when they are done?

I would need to somehow get a screen capture and then reduce it to predefined size, but never looked into screen caps in php….possible?

If the whole thing sounds like it will be a royal pain using php, I will throw in the towel and drag out Flash.

As I said I have nothing set in concrete yet, so I may decide Flash is the way to go anyway.

If you have any thoughts, ideas, comments, spare dollar bills, etc, plase let me know.

Thx,
//erlin!

@NogDogApr 05.2007 — If you're building up the image with some sort of client-side application, then that application is going to have to be responsible for sending the results to the server. Rather than sending an image, it might be simpler to have it send the data that can then be used to rebuild that image (background, image, text-color, text, etc.).

@CrazyMerlinauthorApr 05.2007 — Thx Dog!

I had some time to look at the issue today and resolved that I will have to do it in Flash, define a drawing area and create an image based on that area, which I can then send to the server.

I didn't want to do so much work in actionscript, but these things are sent to test us I guess.

I do know actionscript, just don't use it enough and know that I will run into lots of problems.

Thx!
