session variables

If you set a session variable in one page is it available to all pgs in the site?
Or is there a way of calling it?

if you don't start the page with that, the variable is not available

the way you call the variable (on a page that starts with session_start()) is:

$_SESSION['variablename'] (as I'm sure you know because you already set it ? )
