Hi, I’m buildind a website and I have a problem fitting the site to different resolutions. My question is what is the most commonly used resolution in PC’s today ? Do you know a site where I can view that statistic ?
@felgallMar 07.2007 — #Screen resolution has nothing whatever to do with the space available in the browser to display your page.
1. Most people have at least one fixed toolbar on their desktop which takes up space.
2. The browser itself takes up space - depending on the browser and how many toolbars the person has open this will vary.
3. The bigger the screen thhe less chance the person will open the browser full screen.
The only useful purpose in checking screen resolution is for stats. You could have ten users all using the same resolution and your page could display differently for each because they have their desktop and browser configured differently.
@CentauriMar 08.2007 — #There are still plenty of people that, for whatever reason, are still using 15" monitors - as the most common screen resolution for 15" monitors is 800x600, I usually aim to design sites fluid enough to display at that resolution WITHOUT the need for horizontal scrolling.
