Hello all,
I have been paying for web domain registration and hosting for a site that I have designed and maintained for the last seven years. I have not been paid, except during the years around 2001-2002, when I was paid about $50/month to maintain the site. I originally started out doing this project as a favor to a friend. Part of the design included me travelling to also photograph events for the site. Film, mileage, etc was not paid. Now my “friend” wants me to turn over the website/domain to his new management company. I just got through an entire site over-haul last summer, without pay. I don’t feel that I should just hand everything over, especially given all of the years, time and my own money, just because someone says jump. I am angry about being used, with very little, if any, thanks. I am like a member of the family, and don’t really want to be vindictive, but I do feel like I should be compensated for at least part of my efforts to this point. The domain is registered into mid-2009, under my name. I would love to hear from any of you on what I should do.

Thanks,
Frustrated Friend

@bathurst_guyMar 02.2007 — If you have paid for domain and hosting and it is in your name - it's all yours. You can add what ever price you want on it. Or, you can simply decline and say you want to keep maintaining it - after all it is legally your website.
