phpmyadmin question

Hi, I recently started getting into using databases and have been getting to grips with mysql etc. I’m using phpmyadmin at the moment to create databases but now I’m trying to advance from practicing to creating my own… its been going fine only I wanted to know if anyone can help me out with a question:

I want to be able to add a record and it automaticly asign it a unique ID number rather than the user having to type one in…. can anyone help me out and tell me how to do this? ?

I’m sure its a simple thing to do and I feel stupid asking but thanks in advance if any of you can help me out ?

I beg to differ (although this isn't one of them)

stupid questions include:

my website works fine in IE but not firefox what is wrong with it?

why wont my website work? (usually solved with adding a doctype)
