Pages hide left content

I’m using Mozilla 1.2.x on Mac 0S 9 and notice that in the last six months quite a few sites display content off centre with the effect that the left 50px or so of page content is hidden ‘under’ the left margin, as though they’ve used “left margin minus 50px”.

I have other browsers, but out of interest – what might be causing this?

@David_HarrisonFeb 24.2007 — Displays perfectly fine for me on Firefox 2.0.0.2 on Win XP. I'd suggest reinstalling the browser to see if that fixes it. If it doesn't then I don't really know, I guess either you put up with it or switch to [url=http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/]Firefox[/url] or [url=http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/]Seamonkey[/url] if they support OS 9 (or some other non-Mozilla browser).

@WebJoelFeb 24.2007 — Looks okay to me too (Fx 2.0.0.2), but see 3 'errors' and 298 'warnings' upon validation with TIDY. Most of the 'warnings' are probably benign enough, but there are some 'missing-expected <li>' and 'missing </a>' and sometimes these 'warnings' are enough to cause a display wrongly.
