I would like to offer visitors to my site access to my personal collection of photographs. However, I wish to require them to register with an email address first. What is the easiest way to do this?

I'm hoping someone knows of a good tutorial (if there's not a quick and easy way to do it) that they can recommend, and being listed in Google is not a prerequisite.
