How do I set up Squirrelmail on my webserver? My webserver has PHP 4.4 and it operates on a Linux OS. My web host provided Squirrelmail for the unlimited domain email addresses. Right now, the only way someone can access their email is by logging into the server and going to the option of accessing their email account. I don’t want to give out the username and password to everyone just so they can access their email address. I want to write a program so that users that set up an eamil with for example — [email protected] — can log in with a web-based interface.

Please help.

Thanks,
Dan

@NightShift58Feb 01.2007 — SquirrelMail has that option, among others.

It has an admin interface so you can assign passwords to all your users.

With that, your users can get their mails using the web interface, as well as POP3 and IMPA4.

See: http://www.squirrelmail.org/screenshots.php

@hastxFeb 01.2007 — If your host has already provided squirrelmail access ...you usually just go

http://www.mydomain.net/webmail to login directly to your email via web browser. This is the default install on some systems. As long as their POP server is running, the user should be able to log directly into their webmail.

@ItsOrreeecoauthorFeb 02.2007 — hastx,

I visited that link and I used my user name and password that my hosting company gave me and it didn't work. Am I suppose to sign up? The website doesn't make it too clear.

Thanks,

Dan

@hastxFeb 02.2007 — There are too many different webhosts / methods to be sure. Most hosts have it enabled by default, others give you an admin center, or control panel, with which you can administer user accounts under your domain. Then you can enable webmail access for those you want to have it. But then some "local" webhosts ...you just have to call and tell them you want it.

Has you host given you a CPanel access, or Vdeck or access to any other administration tool? Try http://www.mydomain.com/cpanel

@ItsOrreeecoauthorFeb 04.2007 — hastx,

yes, I use Cpanel. again, I visited that link and I got an error logging in. What should I type in for the user name? My [email protected] or just my user name? Thus far I've been just typing in my username. What am I not doing?? How would you log in?

thanks,

Dan
