retrive HTTP GET parameter

Hi,
I want to retrive an http get parameter. I have a page as this:

[url]www.something.com/somepage.html?param=aValue[/url]

With javascript how can i take the param value?

I’know how make this with php, jsp… but in this case I have a simple html page without the possibility to use some server side language.
