What’s the easiest way to manipulate text in a HTML form?

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I’m kinda new at this stuff.

Here’s the scenario…

I’d like to create an ebook using HTML and then compile it into an .exe file. I’ll have several forms in the ebook where the user will input custom text. The text in the forms needs to be saved until the user is done filling out all the forms. Then the text from those forms will be displayed in a unique way in a different section of the ebook once the user is done. Basically what it will be doing is helping users organize certain thoughts and then present them a structured way.

My question is, what is the easiest way to do this?

I should point out that I don’t want the ebook to have to access the internet to do this, so everything would have to be done on the user’s computer. Can this be done just using HTML or does there have to be some sort of scripting language involved? I’ve been trying to research this myself past few days but I’m a bit overwhelmed at all the different options for doing something like this (CGI, Perl, SQL, Javascript, etc.)

What do you guys think is the easiest way to do this kind of thing?

I considered that but it needs to have a shareware/activation system built in that checks to make sure that the user is running a legal copy (Like with Activ Ebook or EbookGold). Plus, I would like it to *look* and *feel* more like a software program than an ebook (something which is easy to do with the ebook compilers I mentioned).

@felgallJan 26.2007 — Could be done with PHP and the FPDF library from http://www.fpdf.org/

I was just trying to figure out if this was something that could be easily done just using HTML. I guess it's not. Thanks anyways.. ?
