What part of this CSS actually makes the main-link hover state remain when the user moves their mouse down to the drop-down menu?

@gil_davisJan 16.2007 — I don't think any part of the CSS can do that. Hover is a pseudo class. If the mouse leaves the link, it will no longer show the hover state. The only CSS way of continuing the hover state is if the drop-down menu is inside the <A> tag. Otherwise, you would have to use JavaScript.

@CentauriJan 17.2007 — There is no javascript in that menu. For non-(IE6 and below) browsers, the hover is on the li element, and as the sub menu is nested in the li, the hover remains. For IE6 and below, the hover is on the a element (as IE doesn't recognise hover on anything else) and tables are employed to nest the sub menus within the a element.
