form validation for unicode

i made a form validation tool
everything was ok until i had to use-it for a french site
so

extérieures

do not validate

can u give me some hints for regular expressions that validate this?
i use this:

var alphanumPat = /^{^([a-zA-Z0-9]+)$/;}

var alphanumPat = /^{^([u0030-u0039u0041-u0056u0061-u007au00c0-u0103]+)$/;}
