Help with my website please?

HI thanks to you all for your help, its resolved and working!!

Hi anyone, I’m fairly new to this and let me tell ya, I’m way in over my head when it comes to advanced html programming. I need someones help so bad, here is what i’m trying to do: if you would please, visit my website: www.daviddholt.com , if you would look on the right hand side below the news update scroll, I have the following form that I have no idea how to get it to work as I cant make sense of the book that i’m using. All I would like for is for a reader who visits my website is to enter their email address, choose one of the two options and click submit, and its sent to my email inbox. Is that possible? I would really be grateful if someone could help me get this going as I am completely lost.:

Below is what I’ve managed to come up with but it dont work:
yea, I know that its probably really lame on my part, but I’d really appreciate the help in getting it to work, in return for an autographed copy from this unknown author(so far)?.

thanks,
david

@stacywacyJan 02.2007 — Here's a thread that might be of help http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39991

Unless you want to receive a lot of spam then you might want to remove your e-mail address from your post.

@aussie_girlJan 02.2007 — Try this, if you have questions contact GoDaddy since they offer this service, I don't know if it's with the free account though.

@tracknutJan 02.2007 — Godaddy does support a form mailer, though you need to use their control panel to install it if you haven't already. The mailer for Linux is slightly different from the one for Windows.

Once you've done that, feel free to go out to my site at www.pixf.com and "borrow" the form html, I do exactly what you're wanting to do. My site is hosted on GoDaddy's Linux servers, so if that's what you're on, the code should be identical.

@arkynutauthorJan 02.2007 — THanks for the tip Dave, i'm hosted on godaddys windows servers and i just found out that with the free hosting i dont have cgi directory. any other ideas? oh, your website looks great by the way!

@tracknutJan 02.2007 — Thanks!

Assuming they don't support any server stuff on their free servers (I suppose that makes sense from their perspective), then you could have the email sent from the client's email (kind of bogus, but it would work) by changing your "action" to "mailto:[email protected]" (I'm pretty sure that's how you'd do it, but I haven't done that myself). The other option of course is to pay the $4/month to them to be hosted on a full service system. You'd get rid of their ads on your site too, it would look a bit more professional.

(pleeeze spell the plural of "story" as "stories" ? )

@arkynutauthorJan 02.2007 — I quiete agree with you on godaddy, looks like they dont for the free hostings. I will probably in the end pay the $4 month hosting cause I too don't like the ads, then I'd have CGI capabilities. Thanks for your help and everyone else too. I've learned alot about html programming. I'll get some more stories out?

thanks,

David.
