When ‘select’ is disabled – style couldn’t be controlled

Hi.
I’ve created a drop down, looks like:

<select name=”forecastMonth” ID=”4005″ class=”FormElementGray” [B]disabled [/B] ><option value=”8003″ >Dec-06</option>

When disabling the select, my css class is not effective anymore.
My browser colors the drop down in light gray which can’t be read.

I need an instant idea of how to solve it.
