Redefine/reasign query result to shorten url

I will like to know how I can made a query result looks like a folder name on a website. This what I mean,

If a url looks like this http://mydomain.com/RS445JP, I want that RS445JP to look like a folder on the domain whereas it’s a query result from my page. A typical example of this a redirecting website, like tinyurl.com or is it a folder been generated when creating a short url?

Thanks in advance.

@NogDogDec 18.2006 — If on an Apache webserver, you could use htaccess URL rewriting.
