code omitting . . .

Okay,

I’m pretty good with HTML, but sometimes you just get that one thing that just stumps the hell out of you. Since I’ve never seen this bug before, I thought I’d post it and ask for help.

When you go to my site right on the main page (next to the baby’s head) you should see the word “WELCOME” and then right next to that, you SHOULD see a button link to Amazon [dot] com, for my Wish List.

Here’s the problem. My wife was navigating to the site on her computer, and she said she didn’t see the button. I checked it out on her computer & sure as poop, the button doesn’t show up! However, it DOES show up on my computer. I used the ‘view source’ option on her computer and saw that the link for the button was there, but the actual <img> tag was missing. I did the same thing on my computer and it was all there.

Why would her computer (and presumably others) just ommit a certain line of code? HOW would a browser just leave out a line of code 😡 ?!?

Here is the line being left out on my wife’s interpretation of my ‘index.php’ page:
<img src=”http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/gifts/registries/wishlist/v2/web/wl-btn-129-b._V52198553_.gif” width=”129″ alt=”View The WickedSmaat Gift List . . . ” height=”42″ border=”0″ /></a>
Like I said, that line is present in the file I have stored locally & remotely on the server . . . so I KNOW IT’S REALLY THERE. But why is her computer choosing to leave that specific line out & how is it doing that???

ANY HELP ON THIS PERPLEXING ISSUE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

p.s. — it’s not her security settings in IE either, I already thought of that one. All other images called via the <img src> tag display just fine, it just this one.

@the_treeDec 09.2006 — This is absolutely most definitely without a shadow of a doubt caused by the firewall or security software noticing something about the image dimensions or the image name and has decided that is an advert and is thus taking it out before it reaches the browser.
