Not sure how to do this

Hi im not sure how to start this. What I want to do is have a number in a accsess database. If a form field is checked and then submited it will subtract from that number in the database. I also want it to return a approved notification if the number is a positive number? If it is a negitive I want it to say denied. Any Ideas???
