Passing javascript function without submitting form

Hi,
I have a form (page A), but before submitting it, I have to open another page (page ? and pass a value to this last page, the value I need for page B is the one from a combo list placed on page A, so, on page A I need to pass a value for the variable [I]code[/I] like this:
onClick=window.open(….., /theme/idcom?[I]code[/I]=form.cbo.value())
how can I pass the value code from page A to B without submitting it?
And believe me I need to do it this way
