"Dynamic" image

Hi!

To make a long story short:
I have a webpage (a web based logbook at [URL=http://www.myweblog.se]http://www.myweblog.se[/URL] ) and I want to use a static image (a map) and plot dots/circles and lines on top of this map – depending on which airports the user has flown to.

I have no clue whatsoever on where to begin though. Can anyone give me a push in the right direction? Tools to use to crate graphics online? Java?
