Mozilla and IE

Can anyone tell me the ‘secret’ of using the MOZILLA browser?? Everything I’ve tried to display gives me error messages, though everything comes up smelling like roses on the IE browser. Does this mean that I have to learn yet another language???
That may be impossible for my senile brain….. ?
ANY kind of explanation would be welcome!!!

@abzNov 12.2006 — what exactly do you mena? you are trying to code pages to display in FF and having problems? or you are trying to surf usinf Firefox and not being able to load pages?

if you are trying to code a page, then post the code and then it will be easier to identify the problems.

look at the w3 resources in my signature, they might help you. also, www.htmldog.com is popular.

@JohnboyauthorNov 12.2006 — Thanks for responding so QUICKLY!! I have been trying to figure out why MOZILLA keeps giving me an error message 'document.layer has no properties' with a reference to album.js, all of which works perfectly in the IE browser. I'm not a programmer, (as is probably evident!), but I would like to know the answer to this.

I've got all the code on www.daygig.com

As soon as I can figure how to post all this stuff, I'll be back....

Thanks again!

@drhowarddrfineNov 12.2006 — I helped someone with this twice before but forgot how. Need to see the code but your link is no good. Perhaps it has something to do with your naming of 'id's?

@JohnboyauthorNov 12.2006 — I'm thoroughly confused by all this technical schtick!! ?

I'm not sure yet how to upload the code for all the stuff I need help with, but I have a website http://www.daygig.com which has a file, which is a slideshow, "Yokosuka.html", which gives me problems when viewing in MOZILLA. It balks at line 107 in album.js which gives the error message, 'has no properties'.... ?

@coppocksNov 12.2006 — NS7 & Firefox follows the DOM in a more strict sense. document.layer was a NS4 proprietary tag if my memory serves me... it is now obsolete. It was not adopted by the W3C HTML 4.0 or Document Object Model specifications. Use getElementByID() instead.

@JohnboyauthorNov 13.2006 — Just figured out the 'upload' process -- don't know where the file goes after I upload it, though!! But it says it was uploaded?!?!?

?

My problem is the Navigation Buttons -- it seems like a simple problem to me, but then what do I know??? I've tried getElementByID with no success, and I'm just a bit "p.o" 'ed now!!! For whatever reason, this is really turning into a can of worms....
img name="pageleftim" src="images/last_off.gif" border="0" width="59"
seemed sorta' straightforward, but now I just dunno'.

As indicated by Mozilla, the problem is in album.js. This code uses inferior, defective and unnecessary browser detection techniques and needs to be re-written.

Its just that; routine, and lots of tools and books ?

And of course helpful online forum people when you are *really* stuck!
