Resizing page to fit different screen size

Ok, i’ve been working on a webpage using Dreamweaver 8 and my screen res is set at 1280×800, when i move the page over to another computer or change my screen resolution the page seems to be off, like there is too much space where an image is suppose to be or the image some how got smaller or is to big for the screen. I guess my question is how do i fix this to make the page work on any screen resolution.
