iterating checkbox using getElementById

I have some checkboxes having same name.
I get the object of checkbox by
var obj=document.getElementById(“veh”);
It returns non null value;
but when i when output length it gives error .
I am able to get the first element of checkbox array but not others .i want to get the value of checked checkbox using getElementById

@A1ien51Oct 26.2006 — getElementById uses id and not name. You can not have more than one id on a page for it to be correct markup.

best is to use the form array.

var cbs = document.forms[0].elements["checkboxName"];

that you can use you array

for(var i=0; i<cbs.length; i++){

cbs[i].checked = true;

}
