Mime encoding class/utility for PHP ?

In an application I’m doing I have a big chunk of text with specials characters that I want to encode as MIME to send as text using certain proprietary protocol.
I’m NOT looking for email utilities, nor for email clients that support MIME encoding. I just want the MIME encoder stand alone, nothing to do with emails.

I used to do this with Delphi, with the Indy Internet tools, but I need this similar functionality with PHP.

@so_is_thisOct 25.2006 — This thead contains a link to a utility which creates the MIME-encoded variable content intended to be plugged into the PHP mail() function. However, you don't have to use it for that purpose, of course. ? I used this to complete my project. I did have to make a few tweeks to it, though. If you want my tweeked version, just give a holler.
