Css Layout Question

Im just looking for some theory as to what css is capable of in relation to the following paste:

……………….

Im just starting to understand css, but i was wondering if you could give me some tips.

Id like to make a webpage with a bunch of thumbnails that are actually links to google videos.

Also id include a navigation bar that changes color as you run the cursor over each title.

id like to position the thumbnails in a matrix as shown.

And id like the background to be black. Any suggestions appreciated.

Good exercise for some of you advanced types. Thanks.

@KravvitzOct 20.2006 — I see two lists there. You will probably want to float all of the list-items (<li>s).

These three articles explain how to style lists.

@KravvitzOct 20.2006 — You should use a complete doctype (one that includes a URL) to get browsers to render as close to the same as possible. I recommend HTML 4.01 Strict. A doctype is not a magic fix. It is the first step in the process of fixing your page. The doctype tells the browser how to render the page. That HTML 4.01 Transitional doctype which does not include the URL tells the browser to render in Quirks Mode -- a generally bad thing.
