how is this menu done?

I saw this menu on a webpage:

and I would like to make something like that. Is this done with Javascript or is there a company that actually makes ‘plug&play’ menus of this kind that could be inserted into a working page?

I have 3 images that are buttons right now and I would like a way to make that sliding vertical menu so it comes out of the white below the buttons the same way it does on the link above.

Anyone know of any plugin or component that would do that? My coding skills are beginner at best.

I have a much higher opinion of the Suckerfish Menu System than this author, however, he does explain the pitfalls of DHTML menus well.

@KravvitzOct 19.2006 — That's better that the first one you found, but it still could stand to be improved -- significantly. I would not use it.
