PHP4 Access XML data

I have a calendar of events in XML. Instead of a “check the calendar for the next event date” link, I figured that I have the data, I’d just access it. Well I’m confused… I get how to parse the XML and output it in total. But I can’t get my mind around how to do a date compare (today) and access the next date. Part of my confusion lies in the structure of the XML source. XML here: [URL=http://www.ctfarms.org/events.xml]events calendar[/URL]

Any help is appreciated 😉
