How Retain Setting?

I’ve got a fairly simple problem and was wondering if I could have some input from someone who’s done this before.

I’ve got a menu on several of my pages, i’ve made it so these menu can be collapsed to offer some more space.

My question is how do I maintain collapsed state of these menus when the page is reloaded?
