Username Box Help

Hello again,
As most of you already know I have this chat room here:

http://kd7pyo.infinitypages.com/chat/

Well I have a new question for anybody who can help me. If you look up in the upper right hand corner of the chat room (when you go to my page) you will see a textbox for your username. Right now if you enter your username you will be able to change it when ever you want. I want to set it up so once you enter a user name and type a message and hit send the username box will become disabled until you close the browser. I also have sessions already set up so it will remember your username nomatter which page you go to as long as your still browsing with the same browser. I want to set up this so it will re-enable the username box once you have closed the browser so if you were to come back in another browser you could have another username. The reasone I want to do this is because I don’t want the user to be able to constantly change there username and by disabling the username box after they enter a username they will be discouraged to keep changing there username and confusing the rest of the users in the chat room. Thanks in advance. ?

@JickauthorJul 06.2003 — If no one else can help me I'm sure Jona will be able to since he is the one that helped me build this chat room. I'm sure some one else could help me though on account of its a pretty general question and I think someone would be able to help me without having the knolage Jona has! Thanks a million guys. ?

@JickauthorJul 09.2003 — Well I'm juding by the amount of replies (which is zero) that no body understood me very well or something. I just want the username box to gray out and not be typable when you type in a username in the username box and then type a message and hit send. If you look at my page source someone should be able to determin how to help me here. I think it might be something to do with "onsubmit", but I don't know because the way I have it now is if you enter no message and hit send you'll get a message that says you cannot submit blank messages so I need it to gray it out only if they successfully send a message. I have been also doing alot of searching and hove found nothing that whould do what I want. Please help, this is ergent. Thanks. ?

@cyborgJul 09.2003 — erm, can't you use temporary cookies (cookies with no expiration date - they close when all copies of IE have been closed)

Success!
