Is a puzzlement

I think that perhaps I am going mad but here’s my problem:

I just edited the following page: http://www.coronadoindustries.com. On my computer and that of my wife – the page looks fine. Over at Coronado – on their systems – it’s out of whack. That is – the right side text does not line up with the button ‘dots’. ?

Within my editor (HomeSite 5) in Browse mode – it also looks fine.

I have deleted all my temp files, etc and I still can’t get a whacked out page as described by Coronado.

As I said – it’s a puzzlement. Any insight would be deeply appreciated by yours truly. ?

@ElowanauthorSep 21.2006 — Well du'oh! I feel like an idiot. Now I have to get a towel to wipe off the egg and drool. ? Thanks for taking the time to answer. The insertion of DOCTYPE revealed all - except on my system though the misalignment now shows within HomeSite.

OTOH - it turns out that one of the 'folks' at the company was using an outdated copy of Mozilla. :p

Whilst the 'out-of-alignment' problem is fixed, they are still saying that the GIF file used for the button 'dots' does not have a transparent BG and is showing up as a white background despite that I saved it out of PSP with no BG at all. ?

Sigh! Can you tell that I'm not a web-Pro? I'm an eye surgeon and head of the research department. Since I got an award for my personal website they thought that I could do their page(s) as well and I did. It's only lately that problems have arisen. :o

BTW - I note that DOCTYPE for HTML 4.01 comes in 3 different 'flavors'. What's the most popular (reccomended) flavor?

Thnx again for helping a brother out. ?

For the longest time I avoided "strict" because I felt that it would cause me to have to re-do alot of things. To a lesser extent this was actually true, but for the greater part, "strict" is no more difficult and is what one should be aiming for. I do not find validating for "strict" that much more difficult than for "transitional". I prefer it in fact.

If you feel that this is an issue, get a free html validator like "ACEhtml-Validator" and check your page's code. It points out any errors and offers suggestions for remedy.

Or if you are using Firefox, get the "HTML-Tidy" extention and when you VIEW-SOURCE it will automatically parse your code for warnings/errors and offer to fix them (fixes "warnings" with one button click, won't correct "errors" but offers suggestions and links for reading more about that particular error).

@ElowanauthorSep 22.2006 — Thnx for that. Now I have to figure out why that damned GIF is not showing as transparent when it did before it was edited and resaved,

Success!
