Testing javascript code

? I have written my code using ‘notepad’ and tested it using OPERA, where I enter the URL address: [url]http://www.w3schools.com/css/tryit.asp?filename=trycss_background[/url].

OPERA runs this example, and I then copy and paste my code and execute it. That worked fine for me while I was writing it. Now I would like to test my code standalone, and have no idea as to how to go about doing this. I have searched (trying various combinations) to find out what to/ how to do this but cannot find a clue. Could you help me in setting up a stand alone test environment where I can point to my code and have my page displayed in its own window 😮 .

Somewhere I read about setting up DOS files, but am not certain, or know how to go about doing this.

I have no clue about standalone testing, that is why I am asking for some help.

@yardman0authorSep 19.2006 — I would like to say thanks to burnt1ce85 who asked the question - Loading JS files. Using his question as a global search argument I found exactly what I was asking. Here is my search argument: 'creating .js files' which returned numerous hits. The section I needed was Creating and using scripts. here is the link:
