Toolbars and custom 404s

Hello all,

I manage a few medium sized domains, and pages have a habit of getting renamed/moved. I’ve created a custom 404 page that parses the url and redirects you to the page you were looking for. Everything works fine except…

We’ve become aware that some client toolbars display their own custom 404 search page instead of using our custom 404 that would get them to what they wanted.

Does anyone know of a way to prevent/mask our apache server from sending a 404 response before the redirect to our 404 page?

Thanks!
