Hi

Everyone,

Can anyone tell me, to optimize a website do we need to optimize the site with more keywords or just concentrate on the few(1 or 2)keywords .

Thanks

@sameer_net_inSep 13.2006 — of course more the better,

but concentrate most on the important keywords,

i mean concentrate those which are relevant to your site and searched the most.

also consider some specific keywords,

like if you are selling real estate in miami then

"real estate" will generate more hits than "miami real estate" but the second one will probably generate more customers.

@Compguy_PeteSep 14.2006 — Please do not take this as a direct reflection as to how I feel about your site but more as the market as a whole.

Content is King but text is boring. I got though reading about a line of text on your site and I stopped. Why? because it's the same thing I've read on everyother site.

I'm not saying you copied it, not at all! but your only going though the motions of it all. People like bold text, bullets, pictures. Write something to get me engaged and where the client will want to use your service. Because at the moment the only thing sperating you from the next website maybe price.

I went though this with a new client yesterday as a matter of fact. A new Realestate agent who's been in the business all of 2.5 months. He has no houses he's trying to sell but he has a good book of clients looking to buy homes. So when we talked about his website he's asking for all the normal stuff he sees on there like minded sites. I told him NO!

I said back... What is the one thing that sets you apart from every other agent in town? He replied I'm hungry and energetic... As a developer how do I/we get this idea across? Of why should the surfer pick YOU?

I came up with the idea of a 1 page website, no calculators, no rates, no MLS search, no no no no no.

So what will be on the site? His photo, his contact info and maybe a little abit about how he feels about selling homes. This might be a bit of a strech as he has yet to list a home but we'll make it sound good.

What does this mean for you?

Go back and rewrite your content. make that half page shorter than it is, bullet the things you can do. Make your content simple... Most clients have no clue what PHP means nor do they ever care to find out. However include the indepth infomation on the subpages, but keep the homepage clean of the technobabble.

Put your 800 and regular line on the front page, yes include the email link but drive it home that they need to call you.

But like the last poster put... 1 or 2 keywords will not cut it, plus they're not even used so much anymore. it's mainly pulled from the content of the site.

Lastly the contact us link in the menu needs a space.

when i optimize a site for search, i like to focus on multiple keywords but keywords that are targeted to the product or services. using generic keywords will not only be hard to rank for but these generic terms wont produce sales or leads. use targeted keywords. for example:

done use "cars"

use somthing more specific like "chevy corvette cars"

if your selling corvettes optimizing for the keyword cars isnt targeted. not only would you have a long road ahead of you to rank for "cars" but you will be getting calls for "trucks" nad you only sell "corvettes". "chevy corvette cars" would be an easier keyword to rank for plus you will have a much higher conversion rate from your traffic. theres traffic and theres targeted traffic.

Success!
