please help a newbie with a JavaScript error

Hello, first of all let me warn you that I am VERY new to web design. I am teaching myself by reading books and utilizing the tutorials in Studio MX. So far, I have a moderate amount of ability to design with Dreamweaver. However, I don’t understand all of the complex terminology and other things related to web design. For instance, I have no idea what php, cold fusion, or other advanced terms are all about. Again, I am at the stage where I use design view to build web sites and let Dreamweaver keep what I am doing idiot proof. ;o) I have some understanding of html code as well, but not an enormous amount.

Now here is what I was doing and the problem I encountered. For the first time, I used Flash buttons on my site. They seemed to work fine until I tried to go to file > save to try and save my index page. I received a popup error message saying something about a JavaScript error. I think the error has something to do with a missing variable name. Keep in mind I have no idea what a variable name is or how to correct this problem, so please try to keep your responses as close to plain English as possible. Fortunately, I was able to save my work, because when I went to close Dreamweaver it allowed me to save the changes before exiting. Still, I cannot access anything in my file menu and I clearly need to fix the problem.

Thanks a million, in advance, for taking the time to help a newcomer. I have attached a URL that takes you to a screen shot of the error message. There is also a link to my site just in case you need to pull down my code. Also, while you are there, if you want, you can tell me how I did on my very first project.

Cheers, Maddux

@plugforumsNov 23.2002 — I remember being where you are now and you will learn quicker if you learn the HTML and avoid using packages that write too much for you. I don;t know your error it looks complicated to say the least. It depends if you want to be a web thing or you just want to finish your current project. If you want to be a web thing forget dreamweaver because its made for people who already knoe the other stuff but unfortunately its marketed at everyone:mad: Anyway - otherwise can't help you, try making a new project and copying and pasting the code into it just to clean up a ny loose ends that might have been made, oh and I'll do it for the money if its not too complicated ? maybe thats not done but it looks like an interesting project.. good design on the page.. everything is clear to see.. oh heres a thought, when you roll over the images and the little message comes up thats javascript so try losing those? also things like browser detection thats js too. basically strip it down til it works then build it up til it doesn;t?

@plugforumsNov 23.2002 — looking again at the error it looks like you need a dreamweaver expert, not a javascript expert

I really appreciate you looking into this for me. Everything was working fine until I added the two flash buttons, so I am going to strip those like you advised. I knew already that I could back track to find the problem, but I wanted to use these buttons. LOL Oh, well, I will have to find some new buttons instead. Again, thanks for your help and general advice.

Cheers, Maddux
