extract ip address from dynamically ip assigned by isp

I have setup a test website on my local server at home that I sometimes access from work. However my ISP assigns me with dynamic IP addresses and whenever they change there is no way of telling what it has changed to when I am at work. I am hoping that the solution is to setup a task manager so the home server ping on a 5 minutes interval a certain page on work website where I record the incoming IP address.

My question is whether will this method work or can anyone suggest better way. My ISP doesn’t provide the IP address within my homepage section of their website.

@Stephen_PhilbinAug 28.2006 — Pinging a page at short, regular intervals should maintain the same IP address anyway. I have the same sort of situation for my domain that I have running on my home PC. The way I stop my IP from being released is to just sign in to my MSN account with Gaim (Gaim is the software I use to chat on the MSN network because I mostly use Linux and you can't really install the usual MSN program on it). I just leave it signed in and just show as offline when I leave my PC, rather than signing out and switching off.
